How to Measure Your Pool
Measure the inside dimensions of the pool rather than the surrounding deck or coping.

- Average depth
For a kidney-shaped pool, measure both the widest and narrowest sections.
For a round pool, measure the radius, which is the distance from the center of the pool to the inside edge.
How to Calculate Average Pool Depth
If your pool has a shallow end and a deep end, add both depths together and divide by two.
For example:
- Shallow end: 3 feet
- Deep end: 7 feet
- Average depth: 5 feet
